BfA Update

November 2001

Monthly E-news for Bibles for America Program Overseers and Coordinators

The BfA Update is intended as an encouragement for all those laboring in the distribution of the Recovery Version throughout America. We hope that, for everyone¡¦s mutual encouragement, you all will send us reports of your experiences.

From the Office:

¨     The ¡§Word of Truth USA¡¨ cross-country tour is entering its fourth week. Since day one, we, in the office, have been meeting every morning to pray for the saints, the trip, and the spread of the Recovery Version.

¨     We have received numerous business reply cards and telephone calls from people in cities visited by the ¡§Word of Truth USA¡¨ caravan. The following is a sample of the requests we have received by telephone:

¨     A woman called from her office in Chicago to request a Bible after receiving a BfA card on her way to work. After placing her order, she passed the phone around to a few of her co-workers so they also could receive free Recovery Versions. In the background, we could hear her asking, ¡§Anyone else want a free Bible?¡¨

¨     A lawyer from Milwaukee called to request a free Bible. When asked how he heard about the free offer, he said that he was trying a case in Chicago and received a card at the train station there.

¨     A woman happened to attend a conference at the University of Pennsylvania campus in Philadelphia the day the saints distributed BfA literature there. She received a card from them and called our office to request a free Bible.

¨     A student in Philadelphia called to request a free Bible, and then passed the phone to his four Christian housemates so they could also receive free Recovery Versions.

From the Churches:

¨     ¡§Anne and I met a couple of times with a student whose name we got at our campus table. It¡¦s been very enjoyable, reading the Word together, praying, and fellowshipping. It's been such a supply to me, and to Anne, too, I think. She did not sign up for a Bible, but she has been enjoying the footnotes with us. However, she was downtown last Thursday and saw the BfA motor home and received the flyer. She told us how great it was that the organization is offering it for free. She said, ¡§How can you sell the Word of God?¡¨ So we told her, ¡§Yes, since you are enjoying the footnotes so much, why don't you fill out a card and we'll bring you a Bible next week?¡¨ So she did.

A classmate filled out a card a while ago for a Bible, and I forgot all about it because of exams. He came up to me on Wednesday and said, ¡§Where's my Bible??!¡¨ He came by yesterday, after Anne and I finished our Bible study, and I gave it to him. He shared with us his experience for almost an hour¡Xhow ashamed he feels that he does not do much for God. He feels that he cannot make excuses¡Xbeing busy is not an excuse¡Xhow can he when he is owned by God? He encouraged us to testify to our classmates and pointed out to us there are some who are seeking to know the Lord. So we gave him some BfA cards to give to our classmates, so maybe he'll help us do that!¡¨ ¡XSan Francisco, CA

From Subscribers:

¨     ¡§I really love this translation. It has opened up the Word in a way I have not previously experienced. I loaned it to my neighbor a week ago and I hope it creates a greater desire for God in her. God bless you!!¡¨ ¡X Ranger, TX

¨     ¡§I thank God for the Recovery Version and its notes. On more than one occasion the Holy Spirit has revealed something to me through this version since receiving it. May God continue to bless your efforts and all those who have and are blessed to have a copy of this version.¡¨ ¡X Newark, NJ

¨     ¡§The best compliment is that we have used our New Testament Recovery Version. May times Bibles are dust-collectors, but this translation makes it the one to grab when in need of clarification. Thank you!¡¨ ¡X Hemet, CA

¨     ¡§I have always had a lot of trouble understanding the Bible.  Most of this is due to the old English used in my King James Version.  The Recovery Version has opened so much to me.  I understand much easier now. Thank you so much!  I eagerly await the complete Recovery Version Bible¡¦s release!¡¨ ¡XRocklin, CA

¨     ¡§I love my Recovery Version Bible. It¡¦s so much easier to understand. I truly feel this Bible helped me desire the Lord in my life.¡¨ ¡XLake Charles, LA

Please pray that:

¨     The Lord would continue to strengthen and supply the ¡§Word of Truth USA¡¨ serving saints for the next four weeks.

¨     The Lord would provide an open door for His Word to spread in America, and that the Recovery Version will have a real impact on those who read it.

¨     The saints in the Lord¡¦s recovery will continue to rise up more and more for the preaching of the gospel of the kingdom.

¨     The Lord will raise us more volunteers to help with the increasing administration needed to distribute an ever increasing weekly number of Recovery Versions.

May God continue to bless America with the Recovery Version!!
